Bob Mould ‘covers’ Sugar

Bob Mould covers Sugar
Do you wanna know what a true rock legend looks like? He’s bespectacled, bearded, bald and  plays a mean low-slung Fender Strat. Bob Mould was a co-founder and significant songwriter of Hüsker Dü, the Minneapolis trio who pretty much changed the alternative rock landscape forever with a series of incredible albums between 1983 to 1987. Who did they influence? It’s easier to list who they didn’t, but of those that owe Hüsker Dü a debt try Nirvana, Pixies and Green Day just for starters. After doing the Dü and a brief stint as a solo artist he formed Sugar, whose seminal Copper Blue album of 1992 further enhanced the Mould legacy. From that great record you can see him in this video ‘covering’ his own power pop classic If I Can’t Change Your Mind. Looks like Bob goes along with the gag and shows a nice line in self-deprecating humour.

And what a truly great song too.
